Beginning school is an important time for every child and their parents. At WEPS we believe the best way to choose the right school for your child is to come in and meet us and visit our classrooms and see them ‘in action’. Another way to learn more about our school is to follow our school Facebook page for ongoing updates – Warrnambool East Primary School.
Flying Start is an optional 4-week transition program designed to prepare children for a seamless transition from kindergarten to the Warrnambool East Primary School setting.
During the program children will become familiar with the school environment, build relationships with staff and their foundation 2024 peers, and participate in a range of learning and wellbeing activities.
Flying Start operates in Term Four of the Kinder year.
Dates and times for 2024 TBA
Any child enrolled for Foundation at Warrnambool East in 2024 is welcome to participate in the Flying Start Program.
'Flying Start was a fantastic way to build my child's confidence in a school environment.' Parent.
'My child enjoyed the experience and talked about it for months after. It was reassuring to see my child was interested and keen to listen and have a go. This helped us make the decision that she was ready to start school the following year.' Parent.
Starting school is a major life transition for children and their families. It is a time of change that can be both challenging and exciting. At WEPS we promote a positive start to school through our Transition to School program for all Foundation 2024 students enrolled at WEPS.
During the 4-week program children will work with the foundation teaching team and meet their classroom teacher. They will interact with their peers through play and a range of classroom activities. Children will become familiar with the school environment including their classroom, the foundation learning community, toilets and play areas.
Please ensure your child has a hat, water, and snack (fruit/yoghurt/crackers) for each session.
