Yard Duty and Play areas

Our playground is divided into 4 areas during first break and 3 areas during second break:

First Break 11-11.40am

Area 1 (front of the school)

Area 2 (play areas located in the middle area of the school  – grade ½ playground, basketball court and 4 square courts)

Area 3 (small oval and arboretum)

Area 4 (large oval and nature play space)

Second Break 1.50-2.20pm

Area 1 (front of the school)

Area 2 (middle of the school play areas – basketball court and 4 square courts)

Area 3 (small oval and arboretum)

NB – Nature play space and the oval are closed during second break

We also have 3 playgrounds, each allocated to the following year levels:

• Foundation (area 1)
• Grade 1/2 (area 2)
• Grade 3/4 (area 3)

In addition to our play areas, we provide students with additional play experiences.

• Play Pod (open during various break times – equipment and toys for imaginative play)
• Nurture Room – indoor quiet play (open first recess)
• Positive Play – indoor board games (second recess)
• Each area is supervised by a designated yard duty teacher and an additional staff member who may be supporting individual or small groups of children.  
• All staff wear a high-visible vest during yard duty and carry first aid equipment.
• All staff are first aid and CPR trained.
