Attitudes to School Survey
All government schools must participate in AtoSS, providing the opportunity for students from Year 4 to Year 12 (Year 4,5,6 at WEPS) to complete the survey. The survey provides data that helps the department understand student perspectives of their school and to improve the schooling experience. The survey is conducted annually in Term 2 and all schools are expected to participate
Data collected includes how students feel in relation to their school, their learning, peer relationships, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general.
AtoSS is aligned with the department’s Framework for Improving Student Outcomes 2.0. Data from the survey are used to inform school improvement and planning to support student learning and wellbeing.
By 2025 (the end of our 4 year School Strategic Plan) our goal is to increase the percentage of positive endorsement for AToSS factors:
And, attain at or above 80% positive endorsement for all domains.
Parent Opinions Survey
The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is conducted annually in Term 3. All schools are expected to participate and it is strongly encouraged to invite all parents/carers to complete the survey. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement.
Our goals is to maintain 80% (or more) positive endorsement for all domains and maximise the number of parent responses for a reliable and valid data set.
PIVOT Survey - student feedback on teaching Foundation to Grade 6
At WEPS we use PIVOT surveys to gather feedback on our students' learning experience. Anonymous for the student and confidential for the teacher, our survey delivers timely insights and actionable next steps for teachers and leaders to maximise teaching impact within the classroom. The PIVOT survey tool is applied twice per year - beginning of term 2 and the end of term 3. The feedback survey promotes student engagement and teacher development to build a positive and inclusive school culture, enables teachers to measure and adapt to their students' learning to maximise teaching impact and develop student voice for a positive impact on every school improvement initiative.
